Scholarship Guidelines

PROCESS:

  1. Scholarship Chair to provide area golf coaches scholarship applications by the Friday nearest March 15th each year

  2. Applications are due back to committee by the Friday nearest May 15, each year. Late applications will not be reviewed

  3. A committee of no fewer than 3 board members will review and recommend scholarship awards

  4. Scholarship Chair to notify scholarship winner(s) and school staff of scholarship awards

  5. Scholarship Chair will attend School Scholarship Awards Ceremonies, if appropriate, to present the awards


SCHOLARSIP GUIDELINES:

  • Friends of Eastern Oregon Golf will award not more than four (4) scholarships to area high school seniors competing on their respective golf teams.

  • The scholarships will be broken out by equal amounts per term (quarter or semester)

  • Upon receipt of proof of enrollment status each term, the scholarship funds will be paid directly to the school of the students’ choice

  • Student is responsible to provide an unofficial transcript each term in order to qualify for the next terms award

  • Student must maintain at least a 2.5 cGPA to keep receiving their scholarship

  • Student must be enrolled at least half time to receive an award for that term

Essay:

Your ability to express yourself and to organize your thinking is important.  Please attach a one-page essay describing why you should be this year’s recipient of a Friends of Pendleton Golf Scholarship. Use this opportunity to tell us more about who you are, your strengths, your special qualities, and if appropriate, any personal challenges that you’ve experienced and how you’ve dealt with them. Please elaborate on your reasons for seeking a higher education.  Please limit your essay to one page with single-spaced, 12-point type.

Letters of Reccommendation:

Two Letters of Recommendation, one from someone that knows your academic performance, such as a teacher or counselor, and one from someone in the community, possibly a person you have worked with or for or done volunteer work with.

Transcripts:

An official or unofficial high school transcript.

Our mission to support youth golf is growing. With partnerships at Wildhorse Golf Club and Birch Creek Players Club, we’re expanding funding for more golf teams and extending scholarships to graduating seniors in Umatilla and Morrow counties.
